Pet owners obviously treasure their animals, and they spend a lot of money on them, too. In 2019, Americans spent $95.7 billion on their pets, and that number increases every year.  This money isn’t just spent on food and vet bills, either. 78% of dog owners and 72% of cat owners said they buy their pets special treats and toys during the Christmas season.

This holiday season, give your loved one a gift that celebrates their furry friend. From art to accessories to toys, these gifts are sure to make a splash with your friend or family member, and their pet, too.

Did you know you can purchase just about anything with a dog’s face on it? Mugs, shirts, hats, pillows, socks, and even blankets. Printing a dog or cat's face on a blanket is a wonderful way to honor them, and their owner is sure to love cuddling up with their pet underneath it on a cold winter’s night.

There are tons of services that make custom blankets with pet faces printed on them. You can make a pattern with tons of miniature pictures or print out one big one. For an added boost of cuteness, order a matching miniature blanket for the animal. You can even put their owner’s face on it. It’ll make them laugh and keep their pet fuzzy and warm at night.

There are tons out there that can be customized for the type of pet you have, their breed, and their personality.

Purchasing a pet subscription box for a loved one is a great way to ensure that the love keeps coming all year round. Set the subscription length based on your price range, and every few weeks, a box will arrive at their door filled with treats and toys for their pet. It’s sure to be a hit with humans and animals alike.

Charitable Donation In Their Name

If your loved one loves their pet, chances are they love other animals, too. Giving the gift of a charitable donation to an organization that helps animals will make you both feel good and will change an animal’s life.

There are so many wonderful charities that would love a donation, especially around the holidays. You could donate to a local shelter and help the over 6.5 million animals that enter shelters in America every year. Or, you could donate to an international organization such as the World Wildlife Fund that helps endangered species all over the world. Most charities will offer you a certificate thanking you for your donation, which you can present to your friend for the holidays. It’s sure to warm both your hearts to be able to help out animals in need.

Homemade Treats

It’s no secret that pets love to be rewarded with treats. However, store-bought treats are often filled with chemicals and preservatives that can be harmful to animals. So, why not make your own? There are thousands of recipes online that are easy to make and only call for a few simple ingredients.

To make simple homemade dog treats, all you need is ⅔ cup pumpkin puree, ¼ cup peanut butter, two large eggs, and three cups of whole wheat flour. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F, then mix your pumpkin, peanut butter, and eggs together in a large bowl. Add in your flour one cup at a time until the mixture is no longer sticky.

Turn your dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently. Roll out with a rolling pin to ¼ inch thickness, then punch out with a cookie cutter (use a bone-shaped cutter for added cuteness). Place them on a parchment-lined cookie sheet, and bake 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden brown. Once cooled, place them in a cute bag or box, and voila! Healthy, delicious treats any pup will love, and their owners will feel good about. There are endless recipes online that you can customize to any animal’s dietary needs and preferences.

Plaster Paw Print

Making a plaster mold of a dog or cat’s paw is an adorable, easy, and cost-effective gift idea. You’ll need a few items from the craft store and a well-behaved pet. You’ll need plaster of paris, which is easily found at any craft store, and a disposable aluminum cake tin. You’ll also need water, a disposable mixing container, and a disposable stirring utensil.

To begin, trim the animal’s nails and the fur surrounding their paw. Next, mix the plaster according to the instructions on the packaging using your disposable utensil. Once you’ve mixed thoroughly, pour the plaster into your disposable aluminum cake tin. Allow it to set slightly, about 10 minutes. Then press the animal’s paw firmly into the plaster, and wash immediately. Wait 24 hours for the plaster to set, then pop out the mold. At this point, you can decorate, adding the animal’s name, the date, and any other embellishments you want.

Conclusion

Pets truly are man’s (and woman’s) best friend. They’re cuddly, loveable, and ever-so loyal. This holiday season, give a gift that honors your loved one’s furry friend and makes them feel special. Whether you give toys, treats, or a charitable donation in their name, they’ll appreciate the time and effort you put into giving them a gift that reminds them of their fuzzy companion.
